Two Victims Revealed in Brown University Incident as Authorities Continue Manhunt for Perpetrator.

The pair of scholars who lost their lives in the weekend's tragic incident on the university campus had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter continued following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the only individual questioned in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was remembered as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, according to the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which honored her memory at a ceremony on Sunday.

Cook was second-in-command of Brown’s division of College Republicans of America, the group said. Karoline Leavitt also expressed condolences online, stating: “There are no words. Remembering her family and friends, above all her mom and dad.”

An International Student

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his initial year at the renowned school, his family confirmed.

His name was confirmed by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sibling Samira said in a tribute.

What Happened

Nine other people were injured in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s university in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Officials stated late Sunday that a 24-year-old male arrested in a search at a hotel about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was being released.

“There is a killer at large,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you must reassess and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”

Public Fear

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, admitted: “We know that this is likely to cause new worry for our community”.

The shooter began shooting inside a lecture hall in the building on over the weekend, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm handgun, a authority informed the Associated Press.

Officers that raided the hotel recovered two handguns and magazines when the person of interest was taken into custody, as was reported.

The Wounded Victims

Regarding the nine injured, one student was discharged from care, said Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in grave but unchanging health, and another was critically ill, police said on Sunday.

A private school, a private K-12 school in the city of Durham, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

More Condolences

Tributes were paid to Cook at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only here growing up... but at Brown University she was a radiant presence in that particular place as well.”

Martin Bertao, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the club. “Ella was recognized for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she worked for her branch and other students,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by Umurzokov’s death in a tribute. “We extend our sincere condolences to his relatives, loved ones, and fellow students and grieve for of his potential.”
