The Red Devils Poised to Secure Germany Striker Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich
Manchester United are on the verge of sealing the deal for prolific German striker Lea Schüller in a permanent move from Bayern Munich.
A Major Acquisition for United
The forward, with six months left on her contract, has been a consistent goal-getter for her club and the national team. Having scored more than 100 goals for Bayern and found the net 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. This signing will be seen as a marquee signing for the Women’s Super League side.
Her exit from Bayern was expected after she was seen fighting back tears while applauding the German club’s fans after a win over Bayer Leverkusen this month.
Reports in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was set to lose one of its leading forwards. Per reports, all the paperwork for the move are now finalised.
Consistent Goal Threat to Boost the Attack
The 28-year-old’s signing is expected to provide a significant uplift to the team's attacking options. Schüller has been highly reliable with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.
- Over seven consecutive seasons, up to and including the last term, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with 16 goals.

Securing Schüller’s signature comes at a time when the club appear to be building momentum.
Their recent performances feature qualifying for the European knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The signing of Swedish right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japanese midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who has become fan favourite since joining in 2023.
On Miyazawa’s new deal, a club official stated: “Miyazawa is now a vital part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability allows her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.”
Lundkvist, who has joined from a side from the NWSL, added: “You can feel how much they [United] have progressed in the last few years, playing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and performing in the top European competition.”
