The Latest Casual Playlist Sparks Intense Debates Over Bots, XP Rewards, and Queue Times

Recently, Battlefield Studios launched a fresh playlist called Relaxed Breakthrough. To put it simply, this mode mirrors the standard Breakthrough format but includes a few key changes:

  • Every squad includes just 8 real players, with the remaining made up of 32 bots.
  • Activities done by real players award full XP, while AI activities provide lower rewards.
  • Only two locations are available: Siege of Cairo and Empire State.
  • Features like Dogtags, accolades, and career stat updates are disabled.

In short, the playlist lives up to its name: it's a laid-back version of Breakthrough. On the surface, you might think there's nothing wrong, as it provides additional choices for gamers seeking different methods to have fun with the title. But, gaming history have taught us anything, it's that not everyone will be happy. In other words, a lot of Battlefield 6 players are mad.

Community Responses: Anger to Praise

"Gamers prefer real players. Avoid making the errors of your competitors," states one reply to the official announcement. "Absolutely shocking concept," comments another. At the same time, in community forums, one user remarks, "I have no idea where we are headed with this game," and another details everything they believe to be broken in the game: "Fix bugs, fix drone glitch, correct rocket mechanics, adjust aiming after sprinting, improve hit detection. We do not require this bot mode."

On the other hand, for every complaint, there are players sharing how much they're liking the recent addition. "It's enjoyable to practice, real players keep it from being a complete grind but it's very relaxed," reads one Reddit comment. "The community fails to see that there are players who actually go outside and don't play this title all the time. Let them find a middle ground," adds a different comment. One reply on Twitter explains that as they're "a parent gamer with busy schedules, this is great for me," and someone else praises the mode for "not being overcompetitive."

Constructive Criticisms and Community Input

All that said, players have constructive reasons to criticize the new mode. Some users have pointed out that it will make wait times more extended for other modes due to the sheer number of playlists currently available. On a similar note, certain regions often face mostly bots in the current modes. It also seems a little backwards that the mode does not begin without a required amount of real players, despite it focuses mostly on combat against bots.

Lastly, a major complaints is that a previous feature was promised to offer complete rewards, including AI matches, but that was removed when they attempted to eliminate XP farming from the system. So this new playlist feels like the player base compromising halfway, according to a Reddit comment. A different user labels this mode as the developers "dropping the ball significantly, I experienced so much fun in the initial release, what prompted them to adjust it?"

Looking Ahead: Will Changes Occur?

Should Battlefield Studios has demonstrated something so far with Battlefield 6, it's that they're listening and responding to feedback. Tasks being too difficult were adjusted very quickly, just like the required Redsec challenges. It is likely that, should analytics shows this recent mode is underperforming to their standards, they won't be shy to make further modifications.
