England Coach Tim Southee Unsure on The Ashes Participation
Tim Southee's most recent Test match for New Zealand was against the English side in December 2024.
England bowling consultant Tim Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be during the forthcoming Ashes contest in the host nation.
The ex- Kiwi pace bowler is expected to be available for the first Test due to his participation in the ILT20 competition, which begins on December 2 in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, 36, took up a role as England's fast bowling consultant in the summer after taking 391 wickets in 107 Tests for the Kiwis.
Commenting as England's team for the first of three Twenty20 games against New Zealand was named, he stated of his participation: "We are still evaluating the situation at the moment.
"We will determine the outcome over the next little while."
English bowling legend Broad had stated the Australia side as their "weakest squad since 2010", but the consultant was in no uncertainty over the anticipated challenge during the contest, which begins on November 21.
"In my view there's at any time a bad Australian cricket team," he said.
"The team's attention is squarely on our own objectives. In my opinion the caliber of [the English] team that's heading out to the host country is excellent.
"It ought to be an absolute cracker, that series. Not only [are|do] fans from both nations looking forward to it, I believe the whole cricket world is."
But, prior to the English team travel to the city of Perth for the first Ashes match, they face New Zealand in Christchurch on this Saturday.
